Soldier from Schenectady dies at Fort Hood

A Fort Hood soldier and Iraq War veteran from Schenectady died of an apparent gunshot wound Monday, according to a news release issued Wednesday by Fort Hood officials. Sgt. 1st Class Robert Floyd Vedder Jr. was 38. His home is listed as Schenectady, but he was living in Killeen, Texas, at the time of his death.
