— Upstate Shredding – Ben Weitsman at the Port of Albany acquired Jack’s Recycling in Pennsylvania, marking the third acquisition this month for the company.

“This is a great strategic move for expanding our reach throughout the northeast, especially with our two new shredders being built in Albany and New Castle,” said Adam Weitsman, owner of the company.

Earlier this month Weitsman announced that he acquired a recycling company in Hornell, Steuben County, near the Pennsylvania border.

The scrap metal processor now has 17 locations in New York and Pennsylvania. The company is based in Owego, Tioga County, but is looking to expand its site in Albany.

Weitsman has an 18-acre property at the Port of Albany, and he said there is another 13 acres available for expansion. He also plans to hire 20 employees over the next few months.
