A few years before World War II, Mohawk Carpet Mills showed artistry and a flair for drama in making the Wheel of Life, probably the most spectacular carpet ever produced in Amsterdam. It took 16 weavers eight months to create the chenille rug for the Waldorf Astoria Hotel on Park Avenue in New York City. The wheel in the center was 18 feet in diameter.
