There are some decent electric-powered vehicles on the market now, but the American public is having a hard time giving up its addiction to SUVs and pickup trucks. I hope the Tesla car company will be able to direct sell to consumers. Some states are banning direct sales in the effort to support corporate welfare (aka dealership show rooms) and that would be akin to banning the internet and amazon as they don't have a brick and mortar facility in one's state. The internet/amazon model is a rousing success as one does not have to go through the burdensome bargaining process for buying a car. One can shop at their leisure from their home pc and possibly allow for auction bid to get the lowest price. There is nothing worse than going through the showroom that process when it isn't necessary in this modern age of the internet!
