People were in the mood for spring in 1969.
They were also in the moods for Passover and Easter. And for singing and decorating.
At Congregation Beth Israel in Schenectady, Rabbi Howard Joseph helped younger members of the congregation conduct a seder. The special dinners for Passover were held in Jewish homes beginning on Thursday, April 3.
Easter preparations took place at Christ Episcopal Church, where the Rev. Ernest Pugh lit the paschal candle — which would burn for 40 days. At St. George’s Episcopal Church, the “choir of men and boys” prepared for a Lenten concert. Shubert’s “Mass in G” and Faure’s “Requiem” were performed on March 23.
