This is a ridiculous question....this is a part time job....a guard can wait till their job is done and light up...just as anyone in a workplace....If they can not manage without having a nicotine fit...I suggest they chew some nicotine gum.....

I agree with SchenectadyScott and will add that many youngsters look to their crossing guard for help and guidance... almost like a friend or family member... so the guards should set an example to the little ones in their charge.

I aqgree with the above. And, in addition, and how do you think they are are going to dispose of the butts when they are done with their smoke. My bet is on the ground.
