Un freaking believable! The AG wants to waste more of the taxpayers nonexistent money on this case. These officers only want to get back to work but the system seems to want to prevent them from doing so.

Esteban, myself and I am sure my family take great offense at your insinuation that all people are indecent if they are out after 11:00 pm "Decent people are NOT out after 11:00 PM". My father was 20+ year veteran on a Capital Region Police Force and you will NOT be able to find a single officer, DA or community leader who did not think/believe my father is a Decent, respectful man. Why do I say this? My father spent his entire career working 4 pm to 1 am.

Shame on you for making such a generalization. Just for clarification, who do you expect to be patroling the streets after 11:00 pm or do you propose no one and let the animals aka criminals have their way with the country?

wmarcic, I agree, I was just trying to point out how badly they are treated. I should have stated that they DO patrol the city even though they are treated poorly and many time greeted by hostile residents. I have nothing but respect and admiration for the Police department and they have my upmost support!!!

I have news for you, the only way you will get an increased police presence is if there are enought police to patrol the area. And even when they do, the residents of Schenectady go OUT OF THEIR WAY to treat them like garbage. So why would they want to protect someone if they are going to be abused. Because you know the first time one of the gang members or drug dealers is 'hurt' the 'upstanding citizens' will yell and scream that life is unfair.

Unbelievable, Stratton and the other city 'leaders' all talk about reform and change and what do they do, they put someone who has been a part of the problem in charge.

I think the citizens of Schenectady need to hold their leaders accountable and find out why this decision was made.

Everyone is too quick to blame the cops on the street when all they are trying to do is retun home to their families at the end of the night. Now with a commander in charge that is a part of the 'crooked' regime, their hands will be more tied and lives will continue to be in jeopardy - both the officers and the citizens.

stefin - Thumbs up for you. I completely agree that the powers that be have continually turned a blind eye to the real problems. For some reason the Police Department has been made the scape goat while the city continues to see an increase in violence, death, and drugs.

On Should three Schenectady police officers face criminal charges for allegedly failing to fill out paperwork related to the use of force on a drunken driving suspect in December 2007?

I am appalled at the waste of time this investigation has been. Unnecessary time and money were spent to find out that the officers did not file paperwork or forgot to turn on a camera. When are the council and the police department commanders going to go to bat for the men and women who put their lives on the line daily to protect the city? If anyone is guilty of anything, it is the Schenectady officials who appear to be looking for scapegoats or examples, so they can ‘prove’ they are ‘cleaning’ up the department. Has anyone considered whether or not the problem is not with the beat cops but rather the administration that looks for any reason to slap or tie their hands? If the treatment of these officers is any example of how their jobs are ‘rewarded’ then Schenectady will continue to be the dangerous, drug ridden, criminal refuge the city has become. The law-abiding residents of Schenectady need to rally behind their officers. They need your support not criticism, they work hard and do their best, when not hampered by their bosses, to protect and serve the city and its citizens. Instead of berating them, thank them and show them you are on their side.
