Wow,I can see that CHILDREN getting free sandwiches really bother you.I am proud to see my tax dollars feeding CHILDREN who are HUNGRY!!Most children these days are embarrassed to get a free meal so you know they have to be really hungry to stand in the rain.What do you rather they do, hook up with drug dealers to make money to eat or little girls sell themselves for a burger?That is the reality of it. Yes there are parents struggling and some are getting "over" as people think but I don't think a kid getting some free lunch classifies as anyone using the system. Kids have to eat and if they can't eat they go hungry until they decide to do something bad for the money. Parents too.People are losing their job left and right and I'm sure its plenty people who felt the same way until they got laid off and need some type of assistance. God forbid.Don't judge people because you do not know what happened to them to be in a situation like that. And back in the days milk was probably 5 cents and food was not as expensive as it it now and rent , mortgage and everything else.
Someone needs to come in Schenectady and see if everyone in certain positions are qualified and not hired because they know someone and got the "hook up"This was a man involved with kids on a day to day basis. What is going on with this town, can't send to kids with a piece of mind. I can't let my son go jogging at night for fear of the police might think he was up to something or get jumped.The streets are terrible with big potholes that are tearing up your car.How many others are there working with kids that shouldn't be?I mean everyone coming forward now but no one felt what he was doing wrong and didn't speak up. Everyone should of got together and got rid of him , what if he decided to burn up the school?
I am very sorry for making it seem like i was judging the friend.The paper stated the friend heard everything and it never mentioned anyone alerting police right away.I also was trying to make a point to the poster that anytime it took to get help would be helpful.I am very sorry for your lost.I appoligize if I offended anyone.God Bless and stay strong for each other.
Also Truckie D, my father in law is a Truck driver and he says the same thing you do. Not many places to park and rest.Giving how everything we use it mainly transported there should be something done about this problem.
Exactly, who knows maybe he didn't die instantly, maybe he needed medical attention. bottom line, if i was on the phone with my friend and heard all of what was going on I would of done something about it.And believe me doing all those steps you claim was needed for him to get help would of been worth it.An hour worth of making calls and faxing is better than worrying all night what happened to my friend.You call in a bomb threat or something from your cell phone and see how quickly they find you. It is not that hard for them. It would of did alot of good for the friend to call 911 or the local police station where the trucker was at. the friend knew what town, he was talking to him right before he was shot.I wouldn't want to be your friend in the same situation and you just hang up and say it doesn't make sense for me to call. Geesh!!
I am sorry for the lost but I can't help but wonder why the person who he was on the phone with didn't call 911?He could of been saved, the police could of tracked the cell phone. It seems it is more to this. He could of been saved.Again I am sorry about your lost but you all deserve answers and closure.
dranon.. do you actually think things are better in school now than they were? Just like there is safe sex courses there should be religion courses. Why do they have 1 without the other. If kids learned morals and learned about sin, there would be no need for safe sex.To the heck with safe sex as a young teen, how about NO SEX!!!.It is just what the bible says, all things that are right would be wrong and all things that are wrong would be right.Its ok to curse, tell sexual explicit jokes etc at work but soon as you say in the name of Jesus, people start to look at you like you are crazy.The school should bring in someone to TEACH religion to these kids. Most kids want to believe but want proof their is a God and there is something after death.Just like the health courses the parents give permission for they can give permission for religion course.A class where they can ask questions and make up their own minds. At least give them that option like they are teaching them the option of being with a girl if you are a girl and being with a boy if you are a boy.(Heather has 2 mommies book)I am not judging anyone,everyone has to be accountable for their own actions but there is need for God in schools.I never seen so many young teens engaging in same sex relationships.Where did they learn that at a young age? I do believe some are born with those feelings but to see a young girl with a girl at 14 and next week with a boy, something is not right.No one is perfect but kids need to learn about God so they can know they are special. Even if their home life or neighborhood doesn't make them feel like they are.
Schenectady what is going on Suicide high?Suicide, fights. What is going on!!!I am for one going to persist that school brings back prayer. We can give out condoms but not bibles. A teacher can be openly gay but not say they are Christian. What is wrong with a teacher sharing their religion with these kids, some will never see a church because their parents do not believe in a higher power.What harm will it do?It will do more good than harm give the children hope.They need to know they are loved no matter what.You do not need gangs or need to kill yourself.You have only one life.You need to make the most of it no matter the circumstances.Let God back in the school.
This was a great article. I wish I knew about this I would of loved to take my children on this tour. They need to appreciate the history of Schenectady and the involment they had in helping the runaway slaves. Schenectady history is not racist so it should not be now.
