Regarding Palin’s conservative tenets right for America?

None of the "Founding Fathers" were "Bible Thumping" Chrisitans. Thomas Paine, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, James Madison, Ethan Allen and other major figures who took part in the American Revolution were very much influenced by "the enlightenment." a world view that focused on rational inquiry and rejected belief in revealed truths and miracles of the bible and other religious texts.

Thomas Paine, the "left leaning" journalist of the time regarded "all religious institutions as "human inventions, set up to terrify and enslave mankind, and monopolize power and profit."

Consequently, religious dogma was explicitly left out of the American Constitution, Bill of Rights and the entire governmental system.

On Op-ed column: DiNicola used Palin to belittle Christians and their values

Any discussion of Republicans who espouse "traditional religious values" begs the question "what values? Former president Ronald Reagan, for example, funded and trained military dictatorships in El Salvador and Guatemala that used death squads to murder civilian opposition including Archbishop Oscar Romero and the rape and murder of four American nuns.

Reagan supported the regime of Saddam Hussein during Iraq's 1980-88 war with Iran. Not only did Reagan turn a blind-eye to the regime's repeated use of chemical weapons against Iranian soldiers and Iraq's Kurdish minority, his administration helped Iraq develop its chemical, biological and nuclear weapons programs.

Reagan was just one of a host of religious poseurs who define the word hypocrisy.

You neglected to mention that the prior definition of "alcohol related" included passengers and pedestrians involved in an accident -- it wasn't limited to the driver -- and any traceable amount of alcohol was sufficient to meet the definition. It was a misleading definition.

For example, if a designated driver crashed into a tree and caused the death of a drunken passenger, the death would be defined as alcohol related.

“That’s what WEXT is all about: Trying to get the little guy out there, to get the little guy noticed..."

It's a nice sentiment, but not true. WEXT does a poor job of "trying to get the little guy out there." Local 518 features an hour of local music, but they don't identify the bands during or after the show. And, when I contacted the station with a request for a list of featured bands I was told there was none available.

Playing a bands' music without identifying the band is a disservice to the band and to the listening public.

Featuring local bands on WEXT-FM is a great idea. It will be a welcome addition to WEXT-FM when they actually get around to doing it.
