I told you this police force is a JOKE. I mean come on now, the (past) chief of the force is suspected of being a drug user at the time he was being appointed - what's up with that! No wonder all that crack was missing from the evidence locker.

There is really nothing the government can do without us paying for it somewhere else, either now or down the road.

These are free markets at work, for the most part, and when demand exceeds supply prices go up.

The best thing to do is cut back on consumption, but globally, not just locally, the U.S. only consumes a fraction of global oil production, and ramp up alternative energy production.

Good points made in the above posts.

I think putting the high-crime area cameras on the Internet might help, but I too am concerned about civil rights violations.

Maybe a middle ground would be to use the camera footage only for arrests and as evidence in a limited manner, such as only for violent/serious crimes. This could be written into our areas criminal code statutes.

RE: SwordSaint - If criminals/thugs knew that more and more people were personally armed, over time they won't be so quick to run around randomly beating people on a whim. This has been proven out in real case studies here in the U.S. and in other countries.

The cops around here are a joke, VERY unprofessional. Someone needs to grow some testicals and step up and straighten them out. Of course this does not excuse the behaviour of those 30 or so youths, despicable to say the least.

This is a perfect reason why we should not make gun carrying permits any more difficult to get than they already are - especially since it's quite apparent that we need to defend ourselves around here since the police are obviously incompetent to do anything akin to their actual job description and duties.
