I totally agree with CKL! I already work 2 jobs to pay my mortgage and taxes as it is and unfortunately i can not sell my house and move due to the fact I have a special loan requiring me to stay for 3 more years. This is rediculous and I hope that every person who voted NO gets it now!!! and they can watch my latch key kids why I work a third job!!!

what these agencies don't realize is that these MWBE companies 1) don't have the insurance (that these public works jobs require 2) they want to be paid immediately (not the net 30-45 days it takes a contractor to get his money from a City or State agency which leads to law suits and mechanic leins etc..

I am not knocking the MWBE contractors or any of the State/Local programs aimed to help them but they need to be a little more realistic the economy sucks and if the average white male who busted his butt starting his company and didnt have any agency to help him wants to do the work himself he should beable to. My suggestion is since my tax dollars are going to pay for this maybe the agency should research what MWBE contractor's they have a lot of and designate seperate contracts for their specialties or their branch of work then

I hate to break it to people but this is how the State is ran also, as much as we don't want to believe it! I took a clerical exam for New York State which seems like a decade ago and scored fairly well, last year I registered as a Democrat with the County Board of Elections and ever since then I have received a handful of the inquiries from different branches of the state, they are not immediate job offers and i only filled out one of the about 6 I received and i haven't heard anything but it is a fishy.

To Warm I think Schenectady is hiring more police officers and by the sound of your comment you may fit right in....

and may I remind you it is usually the children from the right side of the tracks that think they are better then everyone else and they do the bullying too!

not everyone in schenectady who is a single mother is on welfare! I pay taxes, own a home and have two A students in the district oh and I work!

I know it's not the schools responsibilty when fights occur afterschool but they need to seriously consider throwing out all these kids that are bullies. Children deserve to go to school in a safe environment and they deserve to get home afterschool in one piece!! I have had it with all the fighting and jumping that takes place after school- enough is enough parents can't always control what their children do so you can't always blame the parents and the schools have soooo many laws forbidding them from taking certain actions so it's a never ending problem. i say we start having a no tolerance approach... you beat up someone at school or after school or you disrespect a teacher you get kicked out of school point blank!! get rid of the trouble makers and help them, people who bully others have issues themselves they need help too! I know people years ago who took their children out of a Rotterdam school because too much focus was on the bad students! Parents are at the wits end dealing with working full time jobs and worrying about their children's safety and lets face it some of these kids parents should be in jail also!!

here's an idea how about the educated NY State idiots who keep insiting that our kids "learn" different ways and everyone must be a friggen scholar come teach our children!! thats why the drop out rate is so high not every child is on a regents level- I have problems helping my 4th grader with homework! If the State continues the higher requirements of our children we will need paras. I'm working 2 jobs, training for a third and I'm still waiting for my STAR rebate because some idiot on either a local level or State level doesn't know what a 2 family house is!! I will not pay any more in school taxes not to mention one of my kids is not bussable!! and the school lunches have gone up! lets stop sending me the tax payer letters when I owe 10 cents!!We can not cut teachers and anyone in the middle Schools right now have you spoken to a teenager these days- we need the national guard in there!to protect the staff we already have!

wow now we can't punish our children....and we wonder why the crime rates are so high... it's alright if your son grows up to beat woman and stay in sch'dy he wont do much time at all and the DA will most likely not press charges...whats 40days in jail if they do press any charges at all and the refrain and stay away orders they will provide the poor girl wont work either not in Sch'dy anyways
