Recipe for success on Weibel Ave

The success of a Weibel Avenue project has prompted the developer to propose a similar project right nearby.

A proposal from developer Sonny Bonacio for a building of apartments and retail space will go before the city's planning board on Wednesday. A copy of the meeting's agenda is available below.

Bonacio Construction began work on "The Springs" in late 2011, a mixed use space at 60 Weibel Ave. with about 180 apartments and retail space on the first floor. Bonacio said they have been pleased with the performance of this site, which has a good occupancy rate.

"It's really a continuation of that," he said about plans for a building with 120 apartment and retail space nearby at 72/74 Weibel Ave. Bonacio had purchased the nearby property about a year and a half ago.

A full story on the Weibel project is HERE.

Also on the agenda is a proposed Congress Plaza hotel, senior apartments on West Avenue and a mental health facility on South Broadway.
