Augie's to reopen in downtown Ballston Spa
The new location for Augie's Restaurant will be about five minutes down the road from its old spot and is scheduled to reopen by the middle of September.
After almost a decade in one spot, a fire earlier this month destroyed the popular restaurant, but owner Augie Vitiello promised he would serve food again. The former location of Manna's, which was in the heart of downtown Ballston Spa at 17 Low St., will be the new location, according to a release from the restaurant.
A big reopening is promised, with the restaurant saying, "If you think we aren't having something fantastic for opening day after all of this.....just stay tuned."
According to the release, the restaurant operators received many suggestions about their future. "Some wanted us to completely move to other Capital District towns - others wanted us to be in the old Eccobelli's spot.....all of that aside we are pleased to report that our new home is still in our old community," said the restaurant.
It's not clear how long Augie's will be in this spot, as a post on the restaurant's Facebook page, indicated it might be temporary. "At this point we can't honestly say if it will be temporary or not," reads the post. "We spent a lot of time trying to find a new temporary spot!"
More than $15,000 has been raised online since the fire to help out employees of Augie's who have been out of work.
