No move on mental health clinic
Tonight's meeting of the Saratoga Springs Planning Board didn't result in a decision on a proposed special permit use for a mental health clinic on South Broadway.
The Saratoga County Mental Health Department, which is being forced to move out of its space at Saratoga Hospital, wants to relocate into an empty car dealership building on South Broadway.
Planning Board officials raised concerns, which they said weren't their concerns, about putting this clinic at the city's southern entrance. Mike Toohey, representing developers of the clinic, said they won't advertise the building's functions and don't want to advertise it.
"We are introducing good jobs, good pay ... to encourage other component parts," Toohey said of the clinic's impact on South Broadway. He added that it won't be a burden on the city's infrastructure and will look like a normal office building.
Saratoga Downtown Business Association President Jeff Clark questioned why the county government didn't hold hearings on the clinic's location.
