Democratic Saratoga Springs mayoral hopeful has twice the campaign war chest of her Republican opponent, according to filings with the state Board of Elections.

As of last week, Democrat Joanne Yepsen's campaign committee has $17,724.61 and Republican Shauna Sutton has $8,708.32.

In the last six months, Yepsen has raised $18,726.50 and spent $7,059.72. Her mayoral campaign committee started with $6,057.83 from her supervisor campaign committee.

Yepsen's campaign touted the fact they collected money from more than 130 individual donors. "We have been out in the community talking with citizens and listening to their concerns. We'll be continuing to do just that in the weeks and months ahead, and we very much appreciate the wonderful outpouring of support we are receiving," she said in a statement.

Sutton raised $9,803.00 and spent $1,094.68 since declaring her candidacy this spring.

In all of the city commissioner races the Democratic candidates currently have more money.
