Housing authority advertises deputy director post
The Saratoga Springs Housing Authority has begun advertising on its website an opening in the newly created deputy director post.
The authority’s board of commissioners voted unanimously last month to pay Leo Dauwer, a Needham, Mass.-based public housing authority consultant, $5,400 to do a nationwide search for a deputy executive director and conduct interviews.
A copy of the description is available below.
Dauwer estimated the authority would pay a deputy executive director between $70,000 and $90,000 a year. If that person gets promoted to executive director, a pay increase presumably would follow.
The post is touted in the advertisement as a stepping stone to taking over for current Executive Director Edward Spychalski. The new employee would serve an apprenticeship until the end of 2014, when Spychalski is scheduled to retire.
