Skidmore College lockdown over

The man suspected of threatening a Skidmore College student on Tuesday night was arrested by the Saratoga Springs Police Department.

Below is a campus safety alert from Skidmore College:

"We have been informed by Saratoga Springs Police that the man suspected of making threats yesterday to harm a Skidmore College student has been apprehended. We have resumed normal operations at the College. We very much appreciate the work of Saratoga Springs Police and other agencies that assisted. Because this is a criminal matter, Saratoga Springs Police are in the best position to provide further information. "

During the height of the lockdown on Tuesday night, police guarded all the entrances to campus and no students or faculty were allowed on campus.

According to an alert sent out by the Saratoga Springs Police Department, the man accussed of making threats to a student was Lance C. Leonard, 49, most recently of Massachusetts. He is known to be a transient, so as of late last night and early this morning the city police were working with officials in Massachusetts and other areas to find him.

Leonard didn't specifically allude to a weapon in his threat, but police still believed he was dangerous and posed a "credible" threat.

It is not clear where he was caught, but early this morning police believe he was on his way to New Jersey.
