City will consider hiring additional police officers

Saratoga Springs Finance Commissioner Michele Madigan is proposing the hiring of additional police officers.

According to the agenda for the council's meeting on Tuesday, she is proposing adding officers to the patrol division.

The meeting will also include a possible amendment to the city code, regarding firearms. The proposed change from Public Safety Commissioner Chris Mathiesen is available below.

Finally, the May 29 kick off and workshop for the Saratoga Springs Comprehensive Plan Update will also be announced. Saratoga Springs Mayor Scott Johnson initially drew criticism for the proposed composition of the comprehensive plan committee, but he changed his plan in early April and the committee was formed.

The meeting on the comprehensive plan starts at 6 p.m. at the Saratoga Springs City Center.
