This Friday and Saturday the Stockade Garden Group and The Chamber of Schenectady County are sponsoring another Stockade Secret Garden Tour.
I’ve been hanging out at Stockade restaurants and jazz spots since the 1980s but had no idea that these beautiful gardens existed in the Stockade section of Schenectady city until going on a similar walking tour last year.
To hear my WVTL interview with Stockader and architect Frank Gilmore about the gardens behind closed doors in the Stockade, click here.
This year’s tour will feature 13 private gardens and local art works are on display. Friday, June 13, the tour is on from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Saturday, June 14, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. rain or shine.
Ticket reservations can be purchased at the advance rate of $13.00 online at www.historicstockade.com.
Tickets may be purchased in Schenectady at Arthurs Market (Front at Ferry St.), The Chamber of Schenectady County (State St.) or The Stockade Inn (Union at Church St.) among other places. The days of the tour, tickets may be purchased at Arthur’s Market or First Reformed Church at Union and Church Streets.
