(Editor's note: Schenectady's Pat Rush is now cycling through Texas with the group, and reports that they may take 20 days just to cross the wide expanse of the Lone Star State. Wifi connection is spotty, she reports).

The following are the major stops on the Southern Tier ride:
San Diego, California
Phoenix, Arizona
Silver City, New Mexico
El Paso, Texas
Marathon, Texas
Cleveland, Texas (near Houston)
Lafayette, Louisiana
Moss Point, Mississippi
Dauphin Island, Alabama
Pensacola, Florida
Perry, Florida
St. Augustine, Florida

We make many, many other stops on this 2-month tour. For example, today we have a rest day at a state park lodge in the Davis Mountains of west Texas. A lovely place which just about defines the middle of nowhere.

The tour tries to keep us on secondary roads away from urban traffic.

UPDATE: Shown is a t-shirt from the rattlesnake festival in Sanderson, which is also the cactus capital of Texas.

Read all of Pat's entries on are journey here.
