Road and bridge program confirmed
Gov. Andrew Cuomo's New York Works Accelerated Road and Bridge program will mean more than a quarter of a billion dollars for the Capital Region, including $145 million for the Patroon Island Bridge.
As first reported by The Gazette on Sunday, the list of projects includes $18 million for the Western Gateway Bridge, $20 million for the Twin Bridges, $2 million for a stretch of Route 30 in Montgomery County and $2.3 million for an 11-mile portion of Route 7 in Schenectady County.
Road and bridges are being targeted because there are so many deficient ones, and they can be expedited because of the nature of the work required. The program is funded through an advance of federal money and budgeted state money.
