Cuomo aims to cut energy use in state buildings by 20%
Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced at his cabinet meeting this morning a handful of clean energy and environmental friendly initiatives that included a $450 million investment to reduce energy consumption in state buildings by 20 percent.
"New York State has a long and proud history of leading the nation in protecting the environment and promoting clean and affordable energy," Cuomo said in a statement.
"From the historic On-Bill Recovery Financing Program, to the NY-Sun Initiative, and Energy Highway project, New York State has been at the forefront of creating a more sustainable, cleaner future. The initiatives announced today will save businesses, homeowners, and taxpayers money and help ensure that our state remains a leader in clean energy production and environmental protection."
Other programs rolled out in the package are incentives to install solar electric systems and a Wind Turbine Blade Testing Lab at Clarkson University
