Jordan plans DA run in Washington County

Assemblyman Tony Jordan, R-Jackson, said this afternoon that he plans on running for Washington County District Attorney.

"It's something that has always been in the back of my mind," he said, noting that in recent years law enforcement officials and interested parties have asked him to consider a run. The current district attorney is Kevin C. Kortright, a Republican, who may or may not be running again.

Jordan succeeded Roy McDonald in the Assembly in 2008. This year he got promoted to the second spot in his conference.

Jordan is currently a partner in his own aw practice and served as an Assistant District Attorney.

“The residents of Washington County deserve a District Attorney who will stand up for justice and ensure a fair and impartial legal system for all. It’s time to be tough on crime, which means prosecuting criminals, along with a return to victim advocacy so that this office represents the people of this county once again,” he said in a statement.

My favorite characteristic about Jordan is his sense of humor, which was embodied by his willingness to get into a dunk tank.
