Warren County sheriff offers his view on gun restrictions
Friday, February 1, 2013
Warren County Sheriff Nathan "Bud" York says there are positive and negatives in the sweeping gun violence prevention law from Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
"The Sheriffs of New York are not of one mind regarding the recently enacted NY SAFE Act," York wrote in an open letter that went out on Thursday. "Most sheriffs support some provisions of the act, while questioning the wisdom of the efficacy of some of the others."
"I am confident that all sheriffs will enforce the duly enacted laws of New York," he added.
The entire letter is available below.
York goes on to question the sped up process of the law's passage, which he says probably irked people, and questions the effectiveness of some of the law's provisions.
