Local legislator weighs in on Tax Cap suit
Wednesday, February 20, 2013
Assemblyman Phil Steck, D-Colonie, didn't shy away from weighing in on a challenge to the state's tax cap.
New York’s largest teachers union and several parents sued Wednesday to overturn the state’s property tax cap as unconstitutional, contending it widens the gap between rich and poor districts and interferes with local control of schools. At a news conference a few hours later, a handful of Capital Region state legislators said they weren't familiar with the suit or declined to comment.
Steck did speak up. The video is available below.
"I think that the NYSUT lawsuit has a lot of value," he said.
