Tonko calls for immediate climate change legislation

U.s. Rep. Paul Tonko, D-Amsterdam, called for action on climate change from the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives this morning.

"The American people need and deserve a Congress that will work together to address the present and growing threat of climate change and do what is necessary to ensure the resiliency of our roads, bridges, electrical grid, dams, and water systems," he said. "Accomplishing this would create jobs and support our communities and our economy."

In his remarks, Tonko noted that climate change poses a serious threat to the county's transportation and infrastructure resiliency.
