Albany wins first preseason game

HARTFORD, Ct. — The Albany Devils opened their American Hockey League preseason schedule with a shootout win over the Hartford Wolf Pack, taking the tiebreaker, 3-2, to win the game, 4-3.

Dmitry Goldenkov scored the shootout winner in the fifth round, following tallies in the first and second rounds from Reid Boucher and Artem Demkov, respectively.

The Devils trailed, 1-0, after the first period, but built a 3-1 lead before the second intermission with goals from Boucher, Darcy Zajac and Demkov (who also had an assist). Albany goalie Scott Wedgewood made 12 saves on 15 shots.

Hartford netted a pair of power-play goals in the third period to tie it up.
