Danes disappoint

UAlbany players vowed that the past has nothing to do with the present, but that wasn't exactly true today at Patrick Gym.

Vermont continued its domination over the Great Danes with a convincing 70-45 victory that snapped a three-game winning streak. Vermont has won seven straight games and is 24-8 in the all-time series. The 2-0, 9-5 Catamounts are also 11-3 at Patrick Gym.

The Danes shot only 35 percent from the floor. Jacob Iati, who was averaging 16 points a game, scored just two points on 1-for-8 shooting from the floor. Vermont also shot well over 50 percent, with three players scoring 12 points apiece.

One game doesn't make a season, but the Great Danes had difficulty beating the teams in the upper tier of the conference a year ago. It remains to be seen if they will have the same problems this year, despite an outstanding 12-4 overall record.

Next stop is Monday at Binghamton.
