Saints vs. Danes top local ticket
When you're talking about local sporting events, there is no doubt that the Siena vs. UAlbany men's basketball game is No. 1 on the list.
Sure, the Travers at Saratoga is a fantastic spectacle and certainly draws the most people, but the athletes involved are horses, after all. Hard to separate your allegiance from your pocket book.
I hear more trash talking -- by the fans, not by the players -- at the annual Albany Cup game than I do for any other game. By the way, tonight's Class AA Super Bowl and the upcoming Dutchman's Shoes Trophy games are definitely in the top 10.
When you get 10,000 people in a confined place like the Times Union Center, there is bound to be tons of excitement. Add the fact that this is the opening game for both teams and the debut of new Siena head coach Jimmy Patsos, and you have a no-brainer.
If you are a local sports fan without allegiance to the Shaker or CBA football teams, you should consider making a trip over to the Times Union Center. You won't be disappointed.
