Guard unit blogs from Afghanistan
Wednesday, June 4, 2008

Members of a New York National Guard unit serving in Afghanistan will share a bit of their experience with readers of DailyGazette.com.

"Staying in Touch," a blog featuring entries by members of the 27th Brigade Combat Team and their families, debuted today at DailyGazette.com with an entry by Lt. Col. Paul Fanning, a public affairs officer.

The unit is made up of companies based throughout the state, including the 427th Brigade Support Battalion, which is based at the Schenectady County Airport. The unit has been in Afghanistan since April, where members are working as embedded trainers with Afghan troops and police.

The blog will feature regular entries from soldiers serving in Afghanistan, as well as their families back home offering their perspective. The blog will also include photos from overseas.
