Want to know right away if your child's school is closed? Want us to let you know when something newsworthy happens in your hometown? If you're a registered user of DailyGazette.com, we've got you covered.

Registered users can now customize search alerts that tell us to let you know when your school is closed or if we publish a story about your town, school, sports team or anything else you might want to know about.

Once you register for the Web site, you will see a little message in the upper left corner of any page on ths site that says you are logged in and gives your user name. If you click on the little arrow right next to it, you will see several options, including the opportunity to customize search alerts for both stories and closings.

Setting up search alerts for stories is as simple as specifying what words to look for in a story, such as your hometown, school name, topic or even your own name. When we publish a story with those words in it, you'll be alerted, either by e-mail, RSS feed or text message.

Similarly, you can be notified if your school is closed just by selecting the school or schools to monitor from a list. When that school tells us they're delayed or closed, we'll tell you, again either by e-mail or text message.
