Partying "Beyond the Pines"

Gazette staff partied with the stars and director of "The Place Beyond the Pines" following the movie's New York City premier on Thursday night.

Reporter Justin Mason and photographer Patrick Dodson got treated like movie stars when attending an after party, where they made the list with the help of a friendly contact at Focus Features.

Before the party, Dodson snapped photos from the red carpet premiere. Mason also wrote about the parade of stars.

Arriving at the party, Dodson said they were met by a woman with a clipboard deciding who got in. "She said, 'You're from the Schenectady Gazette, you're VIP tonight,'" he recounted from the movie star experience.

Inside the party, Dodson and Mason interacted with the movies stars, including Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper and Ray Liotta.

Also there was the film's director, Derek Cianfrance, who was nice enough to pose with a version of the Daily Gazette that was made for the film. That photo is available below, with Cianfrance posing with Mason.

"He is awesome. He is so nice," Dodson said of Cianfrance, who didn't watch the premier and chatting with the Gazette staff for a bit then. Dodson said they also met Cianfrance's wife, Shannon Plumb.

Also in attendance for the movie's premier was Schenectady Police Chief Brian Kilcullen and his wife.
