Potato days
Thursday, September 18, 2008

Roots & Wisdom, a non-profit, Schenectady-based organization dedicated to urban agriculture, youth development and community service, is ready to harvest its one-acre potato field next to Vale Cemetery.

Volunteers are needed to help dig potatoes from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, Sept. 24, at the Potato Field in Vale Cemetery, off Brandywine. Roots & Wisdom donates its produce to shelters and food pantries, and sells a portion to support its program.

The harvest will go on rain or shine. Volunteers should dress for the weather, with sneakers or other closed-toe shoes, and a hat for sun (or rain) protection. Bring a water bottle too.
