Saratoga Race Course begins its 36-day meet on Wednesday, with an opening week full of stakes, stakes and more stakes. The highlight comes Saturday, with four graded races, all part of the "Win and you're in" series that originated here last year and earns the winner(s) an automatic berth in the Breeders' Cup.
One of those Saturday races, the AG Vanderbilt, will see Bustin Stones put his unblemished record on the line for local owner Roddy Valente.
And one week from Sunday is Saratoga's hometown prep for the $1 million Travers, the Jim Dandy. Look for upset Belmont winner Da' Tara and one-time leading Kentucky Derby candidate Pyro.
