Forwards Pat Dwyer and Michael Ryan agreed to new contracts with the Carolina Hurricanes today.
Both restricted free agents will be on two-way deals. Dwyer's is for two years ($500,000 per at the NHL level, and $105,000 in the AHL), while Ryan's is for one year ($500,000 in the NHL and $100,000 in the AHL, with $150,000 guaranteed).
“Patrick and Michael add important depth to our organization at the forward positions,” Canes GM Jim Rutherford said in a statement. “Both players had productive seasons last year and are capable of contributing at the NHL level.”
Dwyer, 25, made his NHL debut last season, playing 13 games in three separate recalls from Albany, netting his first NHL goal on Nov. 28, and also skated two Stanley Cup playoff games. He had 24 goals and 40 points in 62 games for the Rats.
Albany's AHL All-Star Game representative, Ryan, 29, led the Rats with 25 goals, and had 42 points in 40 games. He had two assists in 18 NHL games with the Canes.
Carolina also signed veteran forward Erik Cole to a two-year deal worth $2.8 million in 2009-10 and $3 million in 2010-11.
