Dead end or just dead?
The Associated Press wins the “Gallows Humor Of The Week Award” for their story, “Nuclear weapons staff complain of morale problems” which appeared in the June 5 edition of The Daily Gazette.
Apparently there is a great deal of dissatisfaction in this arm of the Air Force.
I read the story with interest (and some hope) thinking that the people with their “fingers on the buttons” of these weapons of mass destruction were having second thoughts about launching bombs that can kill millions in less than a second.
Not even close.
Here's the quote:
“Key themes among the complaints include working under 'poor leadership' and being stuck in 'dead-end careers' in nuclear weapons, one email said.”
“Dead-end careers”?!! Seriously?!
For several decades now the peace movement has been trying to make the point that nuclear weapons and the wars they could be used in is a “dead end” for the people underneath said weapons, if not for the entire planet.
Sometimes you just have to laugh.
