Clifton Park (14YO), Niskayuna (13YO) advance in Babe Ruth World Series

Clifton Park and Niskayuna have each advanced to the knockout round of their respective Babe Ruth World Series tournaments on Wednesday.

Nik Malachowski had a double, two singles and two RBI to help Clifton Park to a 10-0 rout of Baxter Springs (Kansas) in the 14-year-old Babe Ruth World Series in Moses Lake, Wash.

Clifton Park went 4-0 in the National Division pool. The Knights earned a bye into Friday's semifinal at 8 p.m.

Payton Johnson had two singles for Clifton Park. Mike Spulnick hit a two-run triple, Mike Jeffers added a two-run single.

In the 13-year-old tournament in Williston, N.D., Niskayuna overcame a 2-0 deficit and beat Grand Forks, N.D., 7-5.

Dylan Sheely went 2-for-4 with two RBI for Niskayuna. Matt Toy, Liam Dawson and Ben Funyak added two hits and RBI each.

Niskayuna went 3-1 in pool play. It will have a quarterfinal-round game against Tri-Counties (Texas) at 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
