HCA names its Rookie of the Year Award after Tim Taylor

The Hockey Commissioners Association is honoring the late Tim Taylor by naming its Rookie of the Year Award after him.

"Coach Taylor spent a good deal of his career identifying and developing young hockey players, whether during his time at Yale or through his many years with USA Hockey," ECAC Hockey commissioner and HCA president Steve Hagwell said in statement. "I can’t think of a better pairing than the young men who earn this award and the memory of Tim Taylor."

Taylor coached at Yale from 1976 to 2006. He passed away April 27 following a four-year battle with cancer.

The ECACH named its Coach of the Year award after Taylor in 2007.
