Valentine joins SNY's Mets coverage

Former major league manager Bobby Valentine will join SNY as an analyst for its pregame and postgame New York Mets coverage, it announced Thursday.

Valentine, who managed the Mets from 1996–2002, will be paired with former Mets pitcher and lead studio analyst Bob Ojeda and host Chris Carlin. Valentine will make between 12 and 15 appearances during the season. His first appearance will be Monday, when the Mets open the season against the San Diego Padres.

Valentine was recently named athletic director at Sacred Heart University. He managed the Boston Red Sox last year, but was fired at the end of the season after the team finished last in the American League East Division.
