Ex-Union center Jooris gets goal, assist in pro debut

Former Union hockey center Josh Jooris opened his pro career in style Friday night for the AHL's Abbotsford Heat.

Jooris had a goal and an assist to help the Heat to a 5-2 season-opening win over the Lake Erie Monsters on Friday in Cleveland.

Jooris assisted on Ben Hankowski's game-winning power-play goal at 13:06 of the second period.

With the score 3-2 in the third period, Jooris scored an insurance goal with 5:45 to go.

Jooris opened his Union career Oct. 8, 2010, with three goals and an assist in the Dutchmen's 9-0 season-opening win over Sacred Heart.
