Jooris nearly scores in Young Stars Classic

Former Union College hockey center Josh Jooris came close to scoring for the Calgary Flames in their Young Stars Classic game against the San Jose Sharks on Sunday night in Penticton, British Columbia.

Late in the third period, Jooris had an open net. But his backhander from five feet out hit the post to the left of Sharks goalie JP Anderson. Had Jooris scored, the game would have been tied, 3-3.

However, the Sharks held on for a 3-2 win.

Jooris finished the tournament with two assists in three games.

Former Union goalie Troy Grosenick was on the bench for Sunday's game.
