Sharks re-sign defenseman and Clifton Park's Petrecki

The San Jose Sharks re-signed defenseman and Clifton Park resident Nick Petrecki to a one-year contract, the team announced Wednesday.

The 24 -year-old Petrecki, who was born in Schenectady, was issued a qualifying offer by the Sharks on July 2. He starts his fourth year in the organization. He has played in 200 games for the AHL's Worcester Sharks and has six goals and 31 assists along with 342 penalty minutes.

Petrecki played in his first NHL game last season. He had 11:58 of ice time in the Sharks' 3-2 shootout win over the Anaheim Ducks on Jan. 29.
