Ex-Union players Jooris, Welsh survive NHL roster cuts (updates with Grosenick still in San Jose)

Here is updates on former Union College hockey players who are in NHL training camps.

-- The Calgary Flames made some roster cuts Wednesday, and there was some good news for former Union College hockey center Josh Jooris.

Jooris was not one of the 13 players assigned to the Flames' AHL affiliate, the Abbotsford Heat. He remains with the big club, which will resume training camp on Friday.

Jooris has two goals in last Saturday's 6-5 shootout win over Edmonton.

-- Former Dutchmen center Jeremy Welsh remains with the Carolina Hurricanes after the team made roster cuts on Wednesday. He is in the lineup tonight against Columbus.

-- UPDATE: Goalie Troy Grosenick remains on the San Jose Sharks training camp roster. The Sharks sent 11 players to their AHL affiliate, the Worcester Sharks.

Also, Sharks defensmean and Clifton Park resident Nick Petrecki is still on the San Jose roster.
