Union hockey only on WPTR-AM (1240) this season
Union men's hockey games will be carried only on WPTR-AM (1240) this season, it was announced Thursday.
The broadcasts had also been on WABY-AM (1160). That won't be the case this season. Both stations are owned by Empire Broadcasting.
Earlier this year, WPTR changed from an oldies music channel to all-sportstalk. It is affiliated with CBS Sports Radio.
Matt DuBrey and Brian Unger return to call the action.
Also, "Union College Hockey Coaches Corner Live" returns from The Van Dyck Restaurant and Lounge, 237 Union St., Schenectady. The air dates for the show, which runs from 6-6:30 p.m., are as Oct. 8, Oct. 22, Nov. 5, Nov. 19, Dec. 10, Jan. 7, Jan. 21, Feb. 4. Feb. 18, March 4 and March 18.
Fans out of the Capital Region can listen to the games and the coaches show online at teamline.cc.
"We are very excited to be a part of the new CBS Sports Network radio station in this market," Union sports information director Eric McDowell said in a statement. "We thank our friends at Empire Broadcasting Corporation as we provide another great year of Dutchmen hockey on air as well as on the World Wide Web.
"This is the fourth year of our popular radio show and our fans enjoy visiting with coach [Rick] Bennett and other coaches and players throughout the season. The Van Dyck offers an excellent atmosphere, with convenient free parking and a wide variety of items on the menu. We are pleased to be back at The Van Dyck and look forward to another fun season of shows for our fans."
