Union recruit Ammirato opens well for Amarillo (NAHL)

From time to time this season, I'll keep you posted on what some of the Union 2014-15 recruits are doing in junior and prep hockey.

Wednesday night, forward Roman Ammirato made his debut for the Amarillo Bulls in the North American Hockey League Showcase.

Ammirato had a goal and two assists in helping the Bulls beat Johnstown, 6-3. He assisted on Matt Sieckhaus' power-play goal late in the second period that gave the Bulls a 4-3 lead.

Ammirato made it 5-3 early in the third period, and then got an assist on Mike Davis' power-play goal late in the game.

Ammirato, a native of Williamstown, N.J., completed his second season in the CCHL. He started last season with the Cornwall Colts, where he was a teammate of Union freshman forward Michael Pontarelli. Ammirato had had 21 goals and 32 assists in 39 games. He was traded to the Hawks midway through the season and had 13 goals and 17 assists in 22 games.
