NFL predictions Week 1

By Ken Schott
Wednesday, September 3, 2014

The NFL season kicks off Thursday night, and I know many of you are excited for it to start.

I am, too, because I like my Philadelphia Eagles’ chances of winning the NFC East again. Last year was an unexpected surprise. With a change in coaches from Andy Reid to Chip Kelly, I expected a transition year. For a while, it looked like that was going to be the case.

But the emergence of quarterback Nick Foles helped the Eagles caputre the division. Even though they lost to New Orleans in the wild-card round of the playoffs, it was a good season. I am predicting an 11-5 year for my Eagles.

Speaking of predictions, I am going to try an pick the winners of each game during the season. Judging by the lack of success my NHL Stanley Cup picks over the years, you may want to go the other way with your picks.

Here are my Week 1 picks:
Thursday
Seattle 28, Green Bay 20

Sunday
N.Y. Jets 13, Oakland 10
Philadelphia 31, Jacksonville 12
New Orleans 27, Atlanta 24
Chicago 24, Buffalo 3
Baltimore 21, Cincinnati 14
Washington 13, Houston 10
Kansas City 25, Tennessee 18
New England 30, Miami 14
Pittsburgh 13, Cleveland 3
Minnesota 17, St. Louis 16
San Francisco 27, Dallas 10
Carolina 20, Tampa Bay 7
Denver 42, Indianapolis 35

Monday
Detroit 17, N.Y. Giants 3
Arizona 27, San Diego 23
