Shenendehowa, Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, Schalmont and Mayfield were among the semifinal winners Thursday night in the Section II girls’ volleyball tournament.
Shenendehowa beat Ballston Spa (3-0) and Bethlehem eliminated Saratoga Springs (3-1) in Class AA action. Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake ousted Amsterdam (3-0) and Queensbury knocked off Troy (3-0) in Class A. Schalmont defeated Hudson Falls (3-1) and Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk topped Johnstown (3-0) in Class B. Voorheesville beat Schuylerville (3-1) and Loudonville Christian ended Schenectady Christian’s season (no score available) in Class C. Mayfield advanced by sweeping Argyle (3-0) and Lake George outlasted Hartford (3-2) in Class D.
All of Thursday's winners were either seeded No. 1 or No. 2.
Bethlehem (AA), Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake (A), Ravena (B), Lake George (C) and Mayfield (D) won titles in 2008. Lake George has captured 18 titles in all, while Burnt Hills has won 14.
Wednesday’s title matches are all at Queensbury except for the Class A final, which will be contested at Lake George. Section II champs move on to regional competition.
