School football: State rankings
Christian Brothers Academy (6-1) jumped two spots to No. 16 after thumping LaSalle, and Shaker (6-1) moved from the honorable mention list to No. 23 after downing rival Colonie, in the latest state rankings for Class AA football teams.
In Class A, Queensbury (7-0) and Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake (6-1) remained at No. 3 and No. 6, respectively, by the New York State Sportswriters Association. Also staying pat were Schalmont (7-0) at No. 5 in Class B, Hoosick Falls (7-0) at No. 1 and Chatham at No. 7 in Class C, and Cambridge (7-0) at No. 5 and Greenwich (6-1) at No. 7 in Class D.
Fonda-Fultonville (6-1) moved up one spot to No. 16 in Class C, and Rensselaer (6-1) moved up one spot to No. 9 in Class D.
The state No. 1’s remained the same in Aquinas (Section V, 7-0, Class AA), Sweet Home (Section VI, 7-0, Class A), Maine-Endwell (Section IV, 7-0, Class B) and Randolph (Section VI, 7-0, Class D).
The Section II honorable mention group includes Colonie (4-3), Guilderland (5-2), Saratoga Springs (6-1) and Shenendehowa (5-2) in Class AA; Broadalbin-Perth (6-1), Cohoes (5-2), Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk (5-2) and Scotia-Glenville (5-2) in Class B; Corinth (5-2) in Class C; and Canajoharie (5-2) in Class D.
