School lacrosse: Niskayuna beats Duxbury

Niskayuna went on the road and beat Massachusetts lacrosse powerhouse Duxbury for the seventh time in 10 games Saturday, 9-6.

Lu Quinn had three goals and an assist, Mike D’Amario and John Prendergast both scored two goals, and Nick Testa made 13 saves in another strong performance as the Silver Warriors (8-1) won their fourth straight game and ended the Green Dragon’ victory streak at six.

Duxbury’s other loss, a 6-5 outcome, came against Pittsford, the No. 3-ranked Class A team in New York state according to LaxPower. Niskayuna is ranked No. 5 in Class A by LaxPower, and Duxbury (7-2) is ranked No. 2 among the Massachusetts East schools.

Niskayuna’s history of success against Duxbury includes an 11-3 win last season and a 9-7 win in 2005 when the Silver Warriors dealt the 23-1 Green Dragons their only setback.

Duxbury won nine Massachusetts Division 1 state championships from 2002 through 2012. Duxbury’s 2013 edition lost to Boston College High School in the first round of the Massachusetts playoffs, 10-9, in overtime.
