Boys hoop: Cremo reaches 1,000
Joe Cremo is in line to become the all-time scoring leader for the Scotia-Glenville varsity boys’ basketball program.
The junior forward reached 1,000 points Friday night with 26 in an 83-33 Foothills Council win over Glens Falls.
Terence Coppola completed his Scotia-Glenville career in 2005 with a record 1,307 points. The school’s other 1,000-point scorers are Terell Winney (2011 grad, 1,157), Chris Rogers (1993 grad, 1,070) and Warren Prehmus (1973 grad, 1,055).
Cremo scored 237 points as a freshman and 485 points as a sophomore, with the Tartans winning Section II Class A championships in each of those seasons. Cremo boosted his junior total to 278 points in 10 games, all of them wins for the Tartans.
Cremo took a pass from Scott Stopera and dropped in a layup late in the third quarter for his 999th and 1,000th points, and departed the game moments later. Stopera finished with 10 assists, while Alex Sausville netted 17 points and Schuyler Sayles finished with 14.
